The Lions Day on Wheels is an event held every year on the Bowring recreation ground in Wellington, and has over the years become a major fundraising event for the Telford Lions Club, and also a much anticipated family day out. It is anticipated that this years event should attract in the region of 4-5,000 people throughout the day. It is the numbers of people here that I think it would be good to tap into.  If we said that just 1% of the people were interested in what we do and what we are about, that is potentially 50 people ,and I would hope that we should see more than this pass by our location with enough interest to ask at least “what are you doing” or “what is that” (whilst pointing to an antenna).

It is my hope that within our allotted 16 square feet of space,that we could fit in a few things that tell people at least who we are and get some of them interested. After all what got us all interested must surely get others interested.

What I would like to see (however the reality may be not quite so comprehensive) is from the following list.

1. Posters / Literature on Amateur Radio
2. Opportunity for some foundation training after the event
3. TDARS - what we did last year,and  what we plan to do this year
4. Radio’s VHF & HF, including antenna’s - working
5. CW demonstration
6. Comparison between CB and Amateur Radio
7. QRP, a map of places worked by members on 5w or less, and putting 5w car sidelight bulb alongside to show just what 5w looks like.

If anyone has any further ideas please let me know - I will be very interested to hear your points of view.
