Foundation candidates must mail or email a fully completed application form, (CATCE, from www.RSGB.org) at least 16 days before the examination date, to the exam coordinator. Applications for those below 16 years of age MUST have a parent/guardian’s signature appended.

Intermediate candidates will complete CATCE application forms during the first session.

Examination candidates are allowed to use a non-programmable calculator, but no books, papers or mobile phones are permitted in the examination room. Two black ink ball point pens should be carried.
Calculations can only be written on the reverse of examination papers.
Completed F & I papers are marked on completion and results issued immediately. Successful candidates can apply to OfCom for a new call-sign a few days after the examination. Applicants may get their choice of call-sign, if it has not already been issued, by negotiation directly with OfCom. On-line licence applications are free, renewable every 5 years to remain valid.
